Smiley’s show of support for Future Positive Creators Fund

Smiley is continuing to support pioneering designers within its Future Positive Creators Fund to aid sustainability endeavours during major global fashion weeks.

Showing how to create more consciously through the eyes of future creatives, Christian Cowan and Theophilio have collaborated with Smiley for pieces that utilise responsible or circular sourcing solutions, incorporating their unique interpretation of the Smiley icon in the spring/summer 2025 collection.

Christian Cowan is a collection of womenswear, founded by its namesake designer in 2017.

Paying homage to horror and murder mysteries, the designer’s collection for SS25 consisted of silver, black and cobalt blue items, with sharp, layered tailoring, while also bringing his unique interpretation of the Smiley ethos to the runway with gold leaf.

Meanwhile, Theophilio is a contemporary ready-to-wear label established in 2016 by Jamaican-American designer Edvin Thompson.

This season’s ‘SHAUNIE 2.0’ collection is all about celebrating the bold fusion of NYC’s eclectic street style with a modern twist. Filled with energy, culture and the relentless spirit that defines New York, this collection is a sincere biography of Thompson’s journey. The Smiley pieces were a bold, ​​fresh take on fashion that honours both creativity and environmental responsibility.

They are symbols of the future we want to create – one that empowers everyone to make a bold, joyful statement. It’s been a real pleasure working with Christian Cowan and Theophilio and their teams to bring their unique visions to life.”

The Future Positive Creators Fund was born out of Smiley’s Future Positive sustainability initiative corresponding with its partnership with the United Nations to deliver UN-SDG Goal 12: Responsible Consumption & Production. It has been designed to assist emerging creators in transitioning towards a more ethical, responsible, and circular approach to design, sourcing and manufacturing.

Previous designers include AHLUWALIA, AGR KNIT, CHET LO, KEVIN GERMANIER, RICH MNISI, SHUTING QIU, SAUL NASH.

Submissions for the February 2025 fund will open shortly.
