Libby Grant takes on new role at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Group

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Group is significantly ramping up its licensing ambitions – welcoming experienced consumer products executive, Libby Grant to the role of chief commercial officer.

The Really Useful Group produces, licences and monetises Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s shows worldwide including such big names as The Phantom of the Opera; Jesus Christ Superstar; Evita; Sunset Boulevard; Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; and the eagerly anticipated new reimagining of Starlight Express (now playing at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre).

Libby begins her new role having worked as a consultant with the business for the past 12 months, WestEndTheatre.com reported. She brings with her a host of experience from the licensing and consumer products industries having worked for the likes of Disney, MGM, Paramount and Universal, as well as co-founding Fluid World and building Hello Kitty in the UK.

A host of other new appointments have also been made, including Jon Lee joining as senior licensing and production manager (theatrical and themed entertainment); Naomi Symeou as head of theatrical production; Anna Peachey as head of marketing; and Alex Parker as musical director.

Two executives have also been promoted – Sophie Francesca becomes senior entertainment research and development manager and James Sherwood takes on the newly created role of head of immersive and themed entertainment.

The appointments were made by James McKnight who joined the business in December 2023 as ceo and also boasts a strong background in licensing with previous roles including chief creative officer for the Harry Potter franchise at the Blair Partnership.

“I’ve been fortunate to spend my career taking world-class entertainment brands and IP into new spaces and working with incredible partners to create best-in-class and unique experiences for audiences and fans,” commented Libby. “It’s a great privilege to now be given the opportunity to do this with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic IP alongside the fantastic team at The Really Useful Group. The work has already started and we’re excited for what’s ahead.”
