Sony Pictures celebrates classic and trending properties at Las Vegas Expo

Sony Pictures Consumer Products is at this year’s Licensing Expo exhibiting its diverse portfolio of properties, including timeless classics such as Ghostbusters and The Karate Kid, both celebrating 40-year anniversaries in 2024, as well as contemporary standouts including The Boys, Cobra Kai, Gen V, The Last of Us, Goosebumps, Twisted Metal and more. 

Visitors to Sony Pictures’ booth will be able to enjoy a 15-foot video wall with a state-of-the-art interactive display.

“Licensing Expo 2024 arrives at a time in Sony Pictures’ history where we are simultaneously introducing fresh installments to some of our most iconic franchises and unveiling modern takes on timeless properties, and welcoming a roster of new IPs that will engage an entirely new generation of fans,” said Jamie Stevens, evp worldwide consumer products, Sony Pictures Entertainment. “No matter our audiences’ content preferences, by collaborating closely with like-minded licensees, we aim to elevate our beloved properties and ensure that each product and experience reflects the true essence of the stories and characters that our fans cherish.”

From Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Motion Picture Group, in March, Sony Pictures unveiled a slate of new products and collaborations in tandem with the cinema premiere of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. The consumer products programme, anchored by key licensees including Hasbro, Funko, Timberland and Kellogg’s, was designed to transcend generational boundaries and resonate with fans of all ages, with all interests.

Continuing momentum into autumn, fans can come alive as their favourite Ghostbusters character at Halloween, with lines of costumes and accessories coming from Disguise, Spirit Halloween and Fun.com.

Following the theatrical success of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Ghostbusters will expand the iconic franchise with an upcoming animated series from Sony Pictures Animation, currently in development with Netflix.

Heading into 2025, Sony Pictures Entertainment will introduce two highly anticipated films. On 30 May 2025, a new instalment from the original Karate Kid franchise will make its theatrical debut, and on 17 January 2025, Sony Pictures’/Studiocanal’s Paddington In Peru will be released.

From Sony Pictures Television, 2024 will see the highly anticipated return of The Boys season 4 on 13 June on Prime Video.

Later this year, the final season of Cobra Kai will return to Netflix, closing the chapter on an epic karate journey. Season 6 of Cobra Kai is comprised of 15 episodes which will air in three parts. Part 1 will hit Netflix on 18 July, followed by part 2 on 28 November, and the finale in 2025.

Sony Pictures Television will also welcome several new adult animation properties to its slate of television IPs, including the upcoming first seasons of Universal Basic Guys as part of Fox’s Sunday night Animation Domination lineup, and Sausage Party: Foodtopia, premiering on 11 July on Prime Video.

A new YouTube channel featuring hit Netflix preschool series The Creature Cases will release short-form content weekly. Toy partner PMI will launch a new toy line including vehicles, figures and playsets in spring 2025.

In anticipation of forthcoming second seasons, SPCP will announce the expansion of licensing programmes for Goosebumps on Disney+ and Hulu, The Last of Us on Max, Twisted Metal on Peacock and Gen V on Prime Video.

An expansive consumer products programme of over 1,000 products across 30 licensed partners is set to accompany the season 4 release of The Boys. These include collectables from Funko and You Tooz, and action figures from Medicom; apparel from Mad Engine and Ripple Junction; a licensed Monopoly Game by Hasbro/Winning Moves available in autumn 2024 and a card game from Upper Deck; a new interactive integration coming in June with Homelander landing in Mortal Kombat 1 by Warner Bros Games and NetherRealm Studios.

Licensed merchandise is also available through Pyramid International and Fashion UK, while fans can shop for The Boys apparel at international retailers Primark (UK) and HMV and The Souled Store (India).
