Damian Hopkins CBE honoured for services to retail and fashion

Last week, the King’s representative of Bedfordshire, HM Lord-Lieutenant Susan Lousada, honoured Bedfordshire resident and founder and ceo of PDS Radius Brands, Damian Hopkins for his recent Kings’ award of a CBE for his services to Retail and Fashion at an Honours recipients’ gathering and presentation ceremony.

Taking place at Cranfield University and Business School, the event was attended by numerous Bedfordshire dignitaries including the High Sheriff of Bedfordshire Bav Shah, the Mayor of Bedford, heads of the Bedfordshire police force, armed forces, and fire brigade, as well as other Honours recipients and Professor Dame Helen Atkinson DBE, FREng, DL, Pro-Vice Chancellor at Cranfield University.

With fashion and retail being a hot topic of discussion on the day, Damian was pleased to learn that uniforms worn by both the Lord Lieutenant and the High Sheriff were manufactured in the UK.

The Lord-Lieutenant worked closely with a British tailor to produce her uniform made from British cloth with embroideries produced by hand in the UK. The High Sheriff’s uniform – designed by students at Nottingham Trent university – incorporates modern requirements including a pocket for a mobile phone and internal rear flap for a heat pad, for when the Sheriff attends outdoor events in cold weather.

“It was wonderful and very humbling to meet with other Bedfordshire Honourees who have done amazing things for their communities and for the country at large, all of whom are hugely inspirational,” commented Damian. “I’d like to thank my wife, my two daughters and my parents for all their support throughout my career and it was lovely that they were able to attend.”
