Sanderson Design Group readies for head office move

Luxury interior design and furnishings group, Sanderson Design Group is to move its head office later this year to West London to a listed building that opened in 1902 as a wallpaper factory for Arthur Sanderson & Sons, the forerunner of the group’s Sanderson brand.

The Group’s head office, which includes approximately 80 staff in design, sales, marketing, finance and administrative functions along with the Sanderson and Morris & Co. archives, will move to Voysey House, in Chiswick, in summer 2024 following the signing of a 10-year lease.

Voysey House, originally known as the White Building, is Grade II listed and was designed for Arthur Sanderson & Sons by the celebrated Arts & Crafts architect and designer CFA Voysey. After its time as a wallpaper factory, there were many alterations before Voysey House was converted into five floors of office space in the late 1960s. The building, totalling 16,000 sq ft, has recently been completely renovated, taking it back to its original design ethos while significantly improving its environmental performance.

It is envisaged that the building will include showroom space, a design hub and events location, as well as housing the Sanderson and Morris & Co. archives and head office functions.

“This opportunity to move our head office to London will bring important strategic benefits for the group while being cost neutral,” commented Lisa Montague, ceo at Sanderson Design Group. “At the same time, it is a privilege to be returning the Sanderson brand to Voysey House, a former Sanderson wallpaper factory and the brand’s original home.

“Locating the group in London will support the sales and marketing of group brands, better showcase the Sanderson and Morris & Co. archives and assist in attracting and retaining talent. We are planning to create an exciting showroom, design hub and events space, which will also reduce our requirement for external showroom space. Voysey House is a building of huge historical relevance to Sanderson Design Group. We look forward to moving into the building in the summer this year and to marking the start of an exciting new chapter in the group’s development.”
