Limited edition Wombles’ merchandise raises money for Age UK

As part of a year-long partnership with Age UK – and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the character’s first TV appearance – the Wombles has created a limited edition range of official merchandise, exclusively sold in Age UK shops.

The range features badges of six of the characters, plus a calendar and greetings cards. The badges – designed in partnership with sustainable, cause-related specialist Louis Kennedy – are made from recycled car and fridge parts, manufactured in the UK, in a circular economy factory with zero waste.

All proceeds from the sale of the items will be used to support Age UK’s essential services for older people, including the charity’s free and confidential national Advice Line, its Telephone Friendship Service and The Silver Line Helpline.

The Wombles has been working with Age UK throughout 2023 to encourage everyone to use the charity’s high street shops as local recycling centres. Together they hope to inspire people to adopt positive environmental behaviour, whether that’s by recycling their unwanted items and donating them to Age UK, or by reusing pre-loved items purchased in the charity’s shops.
