In case you missed it: Catch up on our Featuring… Museums & Heritage special focus

Throughout March, the Featuring… specials from LicensingSource.net shone the spotlight on the burgeoning museums and heritage sector.

There was good news for the museums and heritage sector in March as The Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA) released its figures for visitor numbers in 2022.

The data revealed that the total number of visits to ALVA sites in 2022 was 123.4 million – a 69% increase on the previous year (73.1 million).

Meanwhile, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport revealed data for its DCMS-sponsored museums and gallerieswhich include The British Museum, the National Gallery, Natural History Museum, National Portrait Gallery, the V&A, the Science Museum and the Tate – that shows a positive upward trend in visitor numbers. There were a total of 9.5 million visits to DCMS-sponsored museums and galleries between July and September 2022.
