Privet Drive opens to the public

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London opens doors to house where Harry Potter grew up.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London is to open the doors to Privet Drive for the first time, as part of the celebrations for the 15th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

From Friday May 27 to Monday June 6, fans of the boy wizard will be able to step inside Number Four, Privet Drive, where Harry grew up under the watchful eye of the Dursley family.

While Privet Drive is always on display at the attraction – and fans can pose next to the street sign or outside Number Four – this will be the first time they will be able to set foot inside.

According to Pottermore, the set designers have gone to town with the decorating – ‘from aesthetically unpleasing sofas to the worst curtains ever imaginable’ – while the Dursleys’ costumes will also be on display.

The iconic letter inviting Harry to go to Hogwarts – created by graphic design team MinaLima – will also be on set, with hundreds of them suspended in the air, just as they were when they flew out of the fireplace in the 2001 film.

Fans will also be able to check out the mechanism that was built in order to shoot out such letters during filming, with approximately 10,000 being used for the moment.
