Programme continues to build for B&LLAs finalists, Battersea

Battersea is continuing to build momentum for its licensing programme, with its agency, The Point.1888 appointing a number of new partners.

The brand was also a finalist in two categories at this week’s Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards – in the Best Brand Licensed Gifting Product or Range for a range of dog and cat pop-up cards by Cardology, plus in Inspired Innovation Brand Licensed Product or Range for the Jude’s ice cream for dogs.

The nominations came as the charity and The Point.1888, continue to build new licensed product, with recently developed ranges hitting shelves this autumn. These include pet toys by Rosewood – tested and approved by Battersea’s very own feline and canine residents – as well as pet and human kitchenware by Half Moon Bay and greeting cards from UK Greetings.

This follows a strong start to the year for Battersea which has already finalised four new license deals. Joining the list of licensees is Welbeck Publishing, which is developing a range of fun puzzle compendium books in time for Christmas for both dog and cat quizzers. For the crafting audience, Practical Publishing will be creating Battersea-themed projects in some of its magazines including stamping sets for a range of homemade dog and cat-themed greetings cards in October’s issue of Creative Stamping.

In addition, Danish Design has extended its Battersea range of products to include dog coats, while Cardology will be adding premium foil embossed 2D greetings cards to its pop-up cards.

“We were delighted to be shortlisted; we’ve worked hard over the last two years to develop a beautiful and fresh new style guide that launched in 2020, and we have seen a renewed interest in the Battersea brand with products not only supporting the charity but looking great using the illustrative and photographic assets we have,” commented Warren Traeger, licensing manager at Battersea. “We’re excited about the future as we have lots of new creative ideas and inspiration for licensees and retailers to work with coming later this year and beyond, with many exciting conversations taking place with potential additional licensees.”

Rosanna Cousins, retail and commercial manager at The Point.1888, added: “We were absolutely thrilled to see Battersea, Judes and Cardology get the recognition they richly deserve in two B&LLA nominations, but this is only the start.

“With so much new product ready to launch in 2023 and more licensees joining the Battersea licensing programme, it’s such an exciting time to be involved with the brand. There is a clear vision in place aimed to support the charity and help deliver amazing products to consumers.”
