£15k+ raised for The Light Fund in just 2 weeks

Karaoke, golf day and The Greats all contribute to push towards £1 million.

The Light Fund is continuing with its push towards the magic £1 million mark, with three events held over a two week period adding more than £15,000.

A special karaoke evening held on May 5 at The Finery in London raised more than £1,500, while The Greats – the gift retailer awards organised by Max Publishing, and held on the same day at The Dorchester – raised over £3,500 from its raffle.

Meanwhile, more than £10,000 was raised from the annual industry golf day, which was held on Thursday May 12 at The Warwickshire Golf & Country Club, Leek Wootton, Warwick.

Sponsors of the event included Aardvark Swift, MV Sports and Keith Chapman Productions, all of whom donated various prizes for the winning teams and individuals.

This year’s winners were:

Best Beginner: Rachel Wakley (Tesco)

Winning Beginners team: Mel Thrift (Mattel), Graham Saltmarsh (Turner), Barbara Robinson (Mothercare), Sarah Salmon (Cooneen)

Par 3 Nearest the pin: Jon Diver (Character Group)

Par 4 Nearest the pin in two: Nick Vellacott (Highlight PR)

David Scott, treasurer of The Light Fund and md of Rainbow Productions, told The Source: “Once again the UK licensing industry has shown its generosity in supporting The Light Fund in the drive to make 2016 the year we achieve the total of £1 million raised for good causes.

“The Golf Day was the best ever and we were delighted to be supported by the new B&LLAs which, together with The Greats, raised over £8k from raffles at the events.

“The target for 2016 is a tough one but, with such industry support, it’s definitely achievable.”

Meanwhile, mark Thursday July 28 in your diaries now for The Light Fund Treasure Hunt – sponsored by Brand Licensing Europe. Further details will be announced shortly.
