The Light Fund cyclists warm up in Vegas

33 execs take part in annual cycle ride ahead of the show, organised by LIMA.

Some of the riders who are signed up to The Light Fund’s 2018 Bristol to Dublin Cycle Challenge had their first training session – and a taste of what it means to dig deep – on Sunday morning in Las Vegas.

This year’s annual cycle ride ahead of the Licensing Expo was organised by LIMA, involved 33 participants from the global industry, and raised $2,700 for The Children’s Brain Tumour Foundation.

Taking in the stunning landscape of Red Rock Canyon (about 30 minutes outside Las Vegas), the event offered two routes of either 15 or 26 miles.

Most opted for the latter, which ended with a long five-mile climb up to a lookout point 1600 feet above sea-level. In 80 degrees heat, the last stage was tough, with people either digging deep to reach the top or making use of the support vehicle bringing up the rear.

A couple of the British cyclists inadvertently added a bit more distance to their rides by missing the turning into the national park… one of them even managed to check out the next town six miles away before realising sighting-seeing on your own isn’t much fun…

Incredibly he still managed to make it up to the lookout point to re-join the group before the descent back to McGhies bike rental HQ.

Let’s hope no one takes a wrong turn in 2018…
