We chat to Matalan’s Denille Halsall-Rooney on her top picks for Christmas and beyond.
Superhero girls and the development of baby-specific looks are two of the trends which will perform well this Christmas and beyond into 2017, according to Matalan.
Denille Halsall-Rooney, assistant buyer for the retailer – pictured with Amy Jones, trainee buyer – also identified classic brands such as Winnie the Pooh as being continued ones to watch when we caught up with her at the Licensing Awards product judging day.
Denille commented: “Superhero girls are having their time now! We have done well with Marvel for boys so it’s great that girls are getting to join in the fun.
“I also think that the 90th anniversary of Winnie the Pooh that will mean this classic property will more prominent end of this year and into 2017.”
She continued: “The development of specific baby looks is an interesting development for the sector, such as Peppa baby and Thomas baby, which is an approach which is likely to continue.
“We also think there is more growth to come from Tatty Teddy/Me to You and we are working closely with Carte Blanche to maximise the opportunities.”
