Star Wars, Thomas, Shopkins make Dream Toys list

PAW Patrol also among raft of licensed brands to make list of predicted top selling toys.

A raft of high profile licensed names have been included on this year’s Dream Toys list of the predicted top sellers for Christmas.

PAW Patrol continues with its strong year, with Spin Master’s Air Patroller making the top 12.

It is joined by Shopkins Chef Club Hot Spot Kitchen from Flair; Star Wars Rebel U-Wing Fighter from LEGO and Thomas & Friends Trackmaster Sky-High Bridge Jump from Mattel.

In addition, as well as the overall top 12, the list is broken down into eight categories, with licensed names also appearing here.

Finding Dory, PAW Patrol and The Secret Life of Pets products have all been named in Pet Corner; while Barbie, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Captain America: Civil War, Star Wars and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles products are included in the Action Station category.

Disney Princess, DC Super Hero Girls, Frozen and Trolls are among the licensed names appearing in the Guys and Dolls category, while PAW Patrol, Peppa Pig, Teletubbies and Thomas & Friends are listed in Tot Them Up.

Finally, Tsum Tsum, Shopkins, Grossery Gang and Trolls products are included in Starting My First Collection.

Gary Grant, md of The Entertainer and chair of the Dream Toys selection committee, commented: “The one unifying thing that I see in the DreamToys selection this year is a sense of real family fun at the heart of many of the toys represented. I’m sure that’s what many families are looking for this year, great value toys and games that all the family can play.”

Frederique Tutt, global industry analyst for The NPD Group, added: “We’re forecasting a very merry Christmas for the toy industry – expecting annual sales to reach 400 million toys for the first time ever which will potentially see the industry achieve an all-time record high in 2016, going over the £3.3bn mark.”
