Santoro captures €7m of fake Gorjuss products

Over 720,000 fakes seized and 26 people arrested in Spain.

Santoro has seized a heavyweight haul of fake products for its Gorjuss brand – over 720,000, worth an estimated €7 million.

The company’s legal team has been working with the Spanish police authorities in an operation which has also seen 26 people arrested in the territory.

626,105 of the counterfeit products – with a combined weight of more than 30 tonnes – were seized as part of Operation Doll, a coordinated programme of simultaneous raids in Madrid and Catalonia. It was one of the largest and most significant enforcement actions ever undertaken by the Municipal Police in Madrid.

Further raids are planned – nationally and internationally – and it is anticipated the haul of illegal goods will surpass one million pieces.

In addition to this, Santoro has had over 2,000 listings for counterfeit products removed from the AliExpress and Alibaba websites in the last year, and many thousands more removed from Facebook and eBay.

“As has been clearly demonstrated, Santoro will take decisive and swift action against infringers and against any stockists of infringing products,” said Lucio Santoro, CEO and chairman. “We will not hesitate to prosecute illegal and unauthorised use of our intellectual property.

“We would like to thank the Spanish authorities and our Spanish partners for their continued support and cooperation throughout this campaign.”

Santoro is urging anyone who sees fake Gorjuss products for sale to send full details and any available evidence to legal@santorographics.com.
