Star-studded BFI premiere heralds return of hit preschool show.
The controller of CBeebies, Kay Benbow, welcomed the return of Teletubbies to the channel at a star-studded premiere to mark the airing of the new series.
Celebrities including Ferne Cotton, Imogen Thomas, Jennifer Saunders, Dan Snow, Karen Hardy, Esther Rantzen, Laura Carmichael, Jess Smith and Berry (previous sun baby and new sun baby) and Vanessa Feltz among others packed into the BFI on London’s South Bank for the premiere.
They were entertained with face painters, balloon modellers and original props from the new series including Noo-noo and the new Tubby Custard Ride.
“The next season of Teletubbies sees the return of the characters you love – Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po – but with some extra surprises in store, too,” Kay said. “With the new series due to air on Monday November 9, we are so proud to extend our relationship at CBeebies – which is for us, the home of Teletubbies.”
Tor Bushell, vp brand management at DHX Brands, added: “It’s been wonderful to see the excitement both in the industry and more widely amongst the public for the return of the Teletubbies.
“We have worked with our partners to really pull out all the stops on this launch, and we’re looking forward to sharing the new Teletubbies with the world.”
Over 50 licensing deals have been secured across the world to date for Teletubbies.
