Man United is most valuable football club brand

Brand Finance report shows club has brand value of $1,170 million.

Manchester United has retained its position as the most valuable football club brand, according to the latest Brand Finance Football 50 2016 report.

The club has a brand value of $1,170 million according to the report, placing it ahead of Real Madrid with $1,148 million.

Barcelona is third with $993 million, followed by Manchester City ($905 million) and Bayern Munich ($867 million).

Perhaps unsurprisingly, following its stellar performance in the Premier League, Leicester City is the fastest growing football club brand.

Brand value is up 132% to $237 million, putting the club in 16th place, up from 42nd in 2015.

Other UK-based clubs to feature in the listing include Arsenal (number 6, with a brand value of $858 million); Chelsea (number 8, $776m); Liverpool (number 9, $748 million); Tottenham Hotspur (number ten, $441 million); Everton (number 13, $279m); and West Ham (number 14, $274m) among others.

When it comes to the most powerful football brands, the report has listed Barcelona as number one, followed by Real Madrid, Bayen Munich, Manchester United and Juventus.
